Substrates - Leaf Litter
![]()

As of July 2010 - Processed leaf litter has been discontinued.
It wasn't necessarily expensive to do - just very time consuming for
us!
How we used to process leaf litter:
Step 1: Pour the leaf litter into a large pot full of water and
swish it around to give it a quick rinse.
Step 2: Empty the water from the pot and refill with new water.
Step 3: Stick it on a stove and allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4: Using a colander drain the water out and allow the leaves to
dry a bit before adding them to a vivarium.
It's easy for the end-user to do - although some enthusiasts say
it's not 100% necessary - you be the judge!
Many successful breeders don't process leaf litter if it's been
dried since drying the leaves minimizes the risk for many issues (Chytrid
+ more etc...).
All of our leaf litter is still
dried before shipping. We personally always sanitize our leaf litter when being used in our breeding vivariums!
