That being said, it's an absolutely awesome starting point for a bunch of DIY mixes, and can be used "as is" in many different situations. We mix Reptisoil and Reptibark as an awesome mix for Cork Planters. We mix Reptisoil with Sand (70%/30%) as a great starting point for arid bioactive substrates, per the recommendations posted by the folks in the Leopard Gecko Advanced Reddit groupext. link. Straight out of the bag, Reptisoil is a great mix for non-bioactive tropical setups, or semi-bioactive conditions where some spot cleaning is to be expected. We've even experimented by drying out Reptisoil, and using it as a Custom Background Mix. (We'd also recommend screening it first) Overall, this is probably our favorite mainstream substrate solution simply because it's useful in so many different situations. There's always an open bag kicking around in our Vivarium Design room, and that says a lot! As always, we recommend doing your own research before making your own DIY substrate blend.
