Selaginella

Selaginella kraussiana variegatus
"Frosty Fern"
![]()
![]()
Similar to standard 'kraussiana'
(below) only this fern grows tall as it covers the ground.
It'll climb upward on backgrounds, and even without a background can
slowly grow upward to a maximum height of 10-12". The stems
will root into whatever they touch - so mounting it near a
background is ideal
(Pictured image is on the smaller size of what we normally sell!
Expect a slightly larger portion!)

Selaginella kraussiana
"Spike Moss"
![]()
![]()
A very nice low
growing trailing plant. Ideal for use in a vivarium as the fern loves the high
(80%+) humidity and temps. kraussiana can turn a beautiful
golden sheen in high light & high humidity conditions which also
gives it's nickname - "golden spike moss". Allow fresh air to enter
the vivarium occasionally to ensure good growth & a healthy plant.
Special Item - Large 6" draping pots are
almost always available -

Selaginella erythropus
"Red Club Moss"
![]()
![]()
![]()
A fairly slow growing fern - the tops of each leaf are green and the
bottoms are red. Very well suited to vivarium life with high
humidity requirements. Must be kept moist in partial shade. Colder
temps can make the entire fern red - but generally this doesn't
happen in terrariums since most inhabitants require at least 70F
heat.
Do not allow this plant to dry out - it
requires frequent misting!
Prices range from $10.50-$12.50 for large 6" pots containing 8"+
wide plants!
